A. Submission

St. Paul University Philippines International Research Conference (SPUP-IRC) journal accepts the submission of empirical studies, integrative literature reviews, theoretical and methodological models, and other research articles related to the theme.

Publication in SPUP-IRC journal is governed by the following principles:
1. Only original manuscripts which were not published in any journal will be accepted.
2. The publication adheres to intellectual honesty and anti-plagiarism policy.
3. All the authors of articles should conform to the journal publication agreements.
4. Authors retain ownership of their papers’ copyright, which can be used in any other publications as long as the original paper is properly cited.

B. Manuscript

  1. 1. Format

    The whole manuscript, except the title, must use the Times New Roman Font Style with 11-point font size and a single spacing. The abstract follows the same font style and font size but italicized. The title of the article follows the title case, using 14-point font size 14 and bold typeface. Reporting, citation and documentation follow the APA style, sixth edition.

    The manuscript should include the following elements:
    • Preliminary Parts
    o Title
    o Author’s name and institutional affiliation
    o Abstract
    • Body including tables and figures
    o Introduction
    o Statement of the Problem
    o Results and Discussion
    o Conclusion and Recommendations
    • Acknowledgment (if necessary)
    • References
    • Appendix (if necessary)

    The following briefly describes the contents of the article.

I. PRELIMINARY PARTS

Title
The title should be clear and concise and must convey the main idea of the whole manuscript.

Author’s name and institutional affiliation
Names of all authors should be shown in the article. Author’s name should be presented as follows: first name, middle initial and last name without any title (e.g. Dr., Mr., PhD.). The institutional affiliation identifies the University or organization where the author(s) was or were located when the research was conducted. Authors’ email addresses must also be shown in this part.

Abstract
A concise and factual abstract is required (between 200 to 250 words). The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, its methodologies, the principal results and major conclusions. It should be italicized. The abstract is followed by three to five keywords, alphabetized and separated by commas.

II. BODY
The body should be presented in concise form providing the main substance of the content parts in five to six pages.

INTRODUCTION
This gives the overview of what the research is all about and situates it in the existing research. This should show why the research is worth investigating. This is normally done with a reference to existing research and identification of areas that have not been explored, need to be explored further, or where new research findings justify a reconsideration of established knowledge. Presentation of the review of related literature as well as the research framework will be integrated in this part.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This portion should state the problem clearly to include the main problem or objective as well as the specific subproblems which are also written in the form of questions. For reviews, please state the purpose of the review.

METHODOLOGY
This portion describes the overall plan for the manuscript. It includes the research design; sources of data/participants and sampling procedure; instrumentation process; procedures, techniques, and strategies employed in data gathering; and data analysis tools used in the study. For reviews, the databases searched should be included, as well as keywords search used, general and inclusion criteria, data analysis tools used and who analyzed the data.

Research Design
Describe the research method used in the study.

Participants of the Study
Discuss comprehensively the selection criteria and sampling technique used in selecting the participants if the study will not use the total population.

Instrumentation
Explain the generation and validation of instrument. If the questionnaire or any data gathering instrument used is not standardized, explain further the reliability tests or validation procedures that were done in the instrument.

Data Gathering Procedure
The data collection process must be well defined. Ethical Consideration (if applicable) is also important in informing the participants regarding the purpose of the administration of the instrument or the main purpose of the study.

Data Analysis Tools
The statistical tools used in the study must be well explained. Numerical data should be analyzed using appropriate statistical tests.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This section provides a clear and logical presentation of the principal findings. Only results essential to establish the main points of the work should be included. Clarity and brevity of the claim must be observed. Use of tables, figures, charts, photographs are permissible only if necessary to clarify the text. Authors should consider that the technical papers submitted for publication must advance the state of knowledge and must cite relevant prior work. For reviews, authors must specify the total number of the articles reviewed, possibly the categories of the publication and the new information from the review. The salient findings must follow discussions that would contain interpretations or implications which are supported by literature.

Tables
Table caption should be written above the table. The table caption must be left justified and in title case format. Tables are also numbered consecutively, 1, 2, etc., from start to finish of the paper, ignoring sections and subsections, and are independent from figures. Every table follows an accurate discussion of the results.

Figures
Figure’s caption is presented below the figure. The figure caption must be center justified and follows the sentence case format. An accurate discussion follows the figure.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
These are general statements that are logically inferred from the results of the study. For reviews, these will include what new information the review brings to the current information about the topic. Recommendations to further expand or refine the existing body of knowledge can also be mentioned in this part. For review, describe how the data from the review can be utilized.

Acknowledgment
Acknowledgements should be used to identify all funding sources, to note intellectual, technical or other assistance and sources of special materials that do not warrant authorship.

References
This lists the sources cited in the body of the paper in alphabetical order and strictly follows the APA citation and referencing style, sixth edition.
